You may have suffered a breakup with your ex. But after all is said and done, you feel that you are still in love with your ex. Here are some suggestions concerning next steps.
The first thing to do is to think very carefully about why the breakup occurred at all. Were there events leading up to it? At this stage don’t get angry or try to cast blame. Just think about it carefully.
Decide if there were factors involved which can be addressed. Were there things you did or said which may have initiated the problem or made things worse? Then it is important to figure out if there are changes you can make which can improve things. Most importantly decide if you are willing to make them.
If you try to get back together but don’t address the issues which caused the breakup in the first place, then there is little point to the effort. So again it is important to make a commitment to try to address the issues and make necessary changes to improve upon them.
It may be difficult to contact your ex. He/she may be hurt and not willing to address the problem. But try to reach out in a positive and gentle way. Again it is important not to get angry or cast blame. Make it clear that you are very unhappy with the situation and that you want to address it. Also make it clear that you love your ex and want to address the problems which caused the breakup in the first place.
It may be helpful to talk about some of the positive aspects of your relationship and show how it can get back to that again. But the initial meeting may not solve all the issues. It may take more time. But if you show a commitment to positive change, there is certainly a chance to correct these problems and eventually get back together.
