A broken heart is something hard to repair, yet somehow, it always seems to mend itself. When my lover ditched me a sense of anger and frustration overcame me in a way that I never thought possible. To be left so alone and vulnerable like that was something I never thought possible. The first thing I did was I went out with friends. I sort of rebounded to give myself a false sense of confidence and pride. Being around friends and going to have a good time was just something physical to serve as a distraction while my mind still raced about the breakup. The thing that helped to reduce the pain was realizing that this other person just wasn’t meant to be. Everything happens for a reason, and if we were meant to be together, in the end we would be! Time is really the healing power when it comes to broken hearts. The longer time progresses the easier things get. After the initial rebound, time alone was also very beneficial. It gave me an opportunity to gather my thoughts and really think about what was important at the time. Even thought things didn’t work out, I feel as though I grew to be a better person from having had a broken heart.
